Yeah right. I don't have a problem with the rain. It is actually quite cool thundering along with spray being kicked up behind me for those that would have been following.....LOL.

thanks to everyone that turned up, hope it was worth it for you

Yes the weather was pants to say the least and we did not think it would go ahead at all, but were glad when a positive decision was made almost last minute.

Because of the high cross winds and soaked track we were advised against driving ourselves as we had not done this before and there were serious issues with the car getting de stabilised and losing downforce effect due to the jet blast and turbulence wash from the plane itself, so despite Giv's sulking and crying like a kid whose sweetie bag had been taken off him, maturity and safety had to prevail and we happily agreed that David Brown, (an experienced race driver and part time test driver for Hartge, ACS and other tuners) who had raced jets a few times would do the driving. He informed me that the Hunter plane ALWAYS won these races...however we were also told the most powerful car he had tried this in was a Porsche of some description with about 400bhp....

The lightning was not put up for the race simply due to its large "slab sided" profile, they were worried it may get blown sideways a bit during it's run and possibly into the car's path.

So they chose the Hunter, which, we are told, accelerates faster on the ground than the lightning due to greater thrust / weight ratio.

Despite the deceptive appearance in some of the angle shots posted up, we are chuffed to confirm the banana won the first race hands down, the first car to do so at Brunty we are told

On the second race David got a bad start and the plane was in front for most of the race, but then the banana went past the plane at about 155mph right toward the end according to David, and Paul's video seems to bear this out.

We are happy to report the banana performed faultlessly despite all the rain, a few thousand donuts, standing starts and 160 mph + runs all day long.

Personally for me the highlight of the day was being told by David the driver that he was amazed at what we had achieved with the M3 and what a great conversion we had done (honest, I am not BSing), praise indeed from such an experienced race driver.

Our sincere thanks to Dave Walton ( brunty owner), phil ( pilot) and david teh driver for making all this possible.
