How long after the E46 M3 was introduced did a company take to produce a supercharger or turbocharger kit?

Not really sure Carl, kits have been around in the states for atleast 4 yrs (that I know of) and maybe longer. E46 M3 coupe was launched in 2001, so that would make it 3 yrs after launch and possibly sooner. Effectively any car can be "charged" with a custom set up even if its a totally brand new model, "off the shelf" kits will take a little longer to appear simply because the tuner will want to do a lot of R&D to be sure of reliability (especially the likes of Dinan in the states or AC Schnitzer which maintain the factory warranty) and also to ensure there`s a sufficient market base to make it viable from a business point of view.
I beleive a "kit" is already underway for the E92 M3 based on the E60 M5 set up. |
