As nice as SMG and satnav are, don't listen to the sales flannel they'll give you on them - their value is only good for the salesman, so tell him you're not worried about satnav (putting your own aftermarket in) or the SMG (manual is a more onvolving drive blah blah) no matter what the truth is to you personally. Grey leather in M3s sucks, and the dealers hate it because they can never shift them (I got offered 3.5k off sticker for that reason alone on one last year) and as nice as Estoril is, it's not an easy colour to shift, so dealers don't like that much either. They already know this though, cos they've got a PY one there with half the mileage and no extras for 2k more. ;)
Bearing in mind all of the above, and that the new M3 is coming out in 9 months time, and that it's high mileage for that year and priced high to begin with, I'd tell them you'll go to 27k (25k if you're feeling brave) and you want a set of mats and a full tank of fuel. Let them start the haggle from there but don't pay anywhere close to that price for that age/mileage/spec - walk away and tell them they can call you next week and hope you haven't bought one from Ipswich (http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/auc/car_details/0,5079,1260_159980112__,00.html?currentCh=WBSBL920 80JR05655 - year older but similar mileage and 7k less on the sticker) or better still from Carrs in Bury, see if that sharpens their pencil.

Thanks for your advice much appreciated. I dont understand why grey leather in an M3 is such a no no. It took me 6 weeks to find my current car, 330d sport saloon titan silver with grey leather. I think its a great combination, ill speak to the dealers tomorrow and see what they say.

2 things with grey leather: 1) It's grey. People buying high-end sports cars like either black or a colour, grey is in-between and isn't popular it seems - 2) Grey leather tends to look shiny after a while, and for some reason it's more noticeable with grey than most other colours.
Use the phrase "Oh, it's grey inside, I didn't notice that" as soon as the sales guy gets you to the car and try to look disappointed. Guaranteed 1k off in the salesman's head before you even start. ;) And good luck, it's all a bit of a lotto with cars and salesmen, so hopefully you'll get a full house tomorrow. :) (Oh yeah, go in and ask them, don't phone up or you'll get sod all deal and when you go in they'll think you were happy enough with that to follow it up - first time has to be face to face for maximum pressure on them!)

Dan's advice is good. I think you should pay no more than 27k for it. Trouble is tho the sales guy knows that it will sell, whether it is to you or another guy.

Wow!! that seems an awful lot off just for that.
£3,500 would get you a nice re-trim though, wouldn't it FfiFfi?

I've been looking at this car myself and made some enquiries. It's due an Inspection 2 service in 4700 miles, which isnt great. And it does seem way overpriced. Somehow i cant see them dropping the price by £4k !

The car is way overpriced and i have spoken to the dealers, there is no way they will drop the price they're quite confident it will sell. Who can blame them its got all the extras you could ask for. Mileage is against this car, the previous owner traded it in for a new M5, i reckon they gave him £25-26k for the M3 against his new car.

Mileage is way too high for the year, and there's other cars out there with same spec for at least 2/3k less from a dealer (and that with 10k less miles).
I like the colour - but as has been said above, it's not to everyones taste and grey leather isnt ideal either.

estoril with grey leathers is a good combination that will sell easily! As for geting 3.5k off a car because it had grey leathers that is crazy! You could get a whole new re trim for half of that!

Guys, im going for this car but want a little advice (which Ive also asked on other forums). The vehicle was damaged by the valeter the day before I was supposed to pick it up. The drivers door, side panels and possibly rear bumper need to be resprayed. I also asked for the front bumper and bonnet to be resprayed as there were stone chips on there.
My question is, should this "BMW Approved" respray cause me any concern ? I.e. will it affect resale value ? I've already been compensated by being given a new 330d M Sport to drive in the meantime, and an extra years warranty worth about a grand thrown in. The deal I've gotten on the car I think is very good, and the colour / spec is what I've always wanted (and is a struggle to find).
Any comments appreciated .... (plus, the wait to pick it up is killing me !!)

LOL and 4 weeks ago you were slating it's mileage and price, and weren't keen on the interior. Oh well, pay your money and take your choice I guess.
The paint should be ok from a resale perspective as it probably won't get mentioned. Just make sure that they've done a proper job on it when you go in, as BMW bodyshops don't have a great rep (for a good reason: They're shit) and getting something re-done afterwards won't be easy. If it looks ok, and you're happy with it then all good and enjoy it. :)

In all honesty, grey leather isn't the best colour, but the only better combination on Estoril (IMO) is champagne / beige. And finding one of those with this spec is all but impossible. So made a compromise there.
The mileage is high for the year, but seeing as I only do about 6k a year it makes sense for me to buy a higher mileage car (provided the price reflects it !). Again, a compromise to get this colour and spec.
And no sunroof either, which would have been nice.
I've found that getting the right colour car with the right spec, the right age, mileage, number of owners, recent service (so as not to cost too much in the short term), decent tyres, good deal and good price, is SO difficult. Ive compromised on colour on 2 previous M3s. This time I just had to get Estoril, but at the expense of the above compromises.

Congratulations on your purchase, shame about what happened with the valeter though. That M3 has got most of the sought after options on it, most individual M3's are well specced anyway. Just out of interest faisal what did you pay for it?

I think I did ok on the price, although they weren't budging by much. In the end, I paid £29.5k for it and got:
6 months road tax
Inspection 2 service
1 year extra warranty
To me, the above is worth almost £2k, although Im sure (apart from the road tax) it costs the dealer less. And hopefully with the front being resprayed, it should be like new with no stone chips etc, provided they do a good job of it.
Oh, and Ive been promised a full tank of fuel too :D

Sounds pretty good, the warranty could be valuable
