well I have to be as insurance friendly as possible for another year and a half til im 21 so not much I can do so I'm araid im stuck with minor cosmetic mods. Last week I took the cheapskate route to xenon looking lights... yep, iridescent bulbs :p sorry but sod spending 800 quid! It also went down to a local ICE place www.autoinstallsuk.com where I had some tints fit at long last, just a light smoke upfront and medium at the back (the back window is medium too but in the pics the lights shining on it so it looks funny and the camera is on a budget too, no tripod for me!)

Looks good. I really like those wheels on the C-Class. They look so much bigger than they actually are. Good job

yeah I know what you mean fas, i think its the way the spokes protrude outwards from the and then come back in at the very lip of the rim, I always wonder how it would look with the same alloys in 18 or 19 inch

I would also space the wheels out a bit more (5-7mm) and change the front grill to the chrome/black version on the AMG cars. Both mods should be very 'insurance friendly' :D

wouldnt the spacing of the wheels have an adverse effect on the camber? I'm already on my second set of tyres because the outside edge of the fronts just scrubs away, merc claim its tracking but they never actually checked it, when I had it checked it was fine and the garage told me it was the camber causing the problems which I can believe bcause the angle of the whels in relation to the road is crazy when you put either lock on, I know all wheels lean on lock but it seems to be a hell of a lot on mine. I'm wondering if it was in mercs last attempt to sell the C they just bolted AMG fitment wheels onto the standard C's without altering geometry... as for the grill ill have to look into that, didnt realise they had different grills

I've had a look at the girll now nick but not a clue how I'd go about it, the front en is different, the bonnet and bumper are actually a slightly different shape by the headlights on the AMG and the grill looks to be a lil bit wide, something I have not noticed before!

From the pic you posted, looks like you have silver horizontal slats on your front grill. The Avantgarde and AMG ones have black slats. Better contrast with the chrome surround.

Spacers don't alter camber directly. However, using very thick spacers the ride height can drop a little because of the extra leverage on the suspension arm by moving the wheel outwards. I doubt 10mm spacers will yield that effect at all on you C.
If you're wearing out the outside edge of your front tyres, you need to put more negative camber on your front wheels, or increase negative camber with steering lock (unlikely you'll be able to adjust this). Putting on a larger wheel will not result in what you described.
2 ways you can go about increasing front negative camber. If your car allows camber adjustment, give it a couple more degrees of negative camber. Alternatively, if you drop the car, the camber change will automatically pull the top edge of the tyres inwards resulting in more negative camber.

I'm not sure the camber is adjustable but if it is how would a go about it? Would it simply mean tweaking something on the strut top? These new tyres have only been on for a few hundred miles and already I can see the edge getting a little scuffed/scrubbed I dont want to be throwing a few hundred quid at it in front tyres every 8-10k :(
And if as mentioned I did put wheel spacers on for cosmetic reasons, if I need to increase negative camber a few degrees, wouldn't spacers alone do this in? And so in effect solving my troubles and giving the car more road presence while I'm at it?

Before you do anything, I suggest you get a full print out of your current suspension settings. It cost £25 from most wheel alignment places (just checking, no adjustment). Front camber is either adjusted on the front strut top or at the bottom. I'm not sure what adjustment your C has.
Wheel spacers space the wheels out, they are not used to alter camber, at least not with the ones you can use on your car. So don't worry about it. I was merely making reference to the use of mega spacers, eg. 25mm thick.
