Evenin' all

yesterday i had a heater pipe burst quite spectaculaly while i was parked up waiting for someone, smoke and steam coming out of everywhere.

"oh <strike>shhh</strike> dear" i thought, but it was bound to happen as its an older car. a quick phone call to the AA and i was towed home.

so off i went to BMW to get the required "Coup flange" (part No. 11531741478) came home, 3 hours later it was fitted

but now the car wont start and i can't figure out why, does the car go into 'safe mode' or anything? tried to jump start it but nothing happened

anybody got any ideas?

That's a bummer mate.

What happens when you turn the key - do you get any lights on the dash or clicking?

tell me about it, after spending most of the day fitting the part (after being told "thats very to replace!..." by the AA Bloke) i was looking forward to going out and relaxing, can't be bothered knowing the car's dead for the time being

all the lights on the dash come up, and go out as normal, but there is nothing when i turn the key, doesn't even turn over.

will check it out again tomorrow

not sure but have u tried disconnecting one of the battery terminal, or leaving the key in position 2 for a while etc...? surely the garage must have tested the part (hence starting the engine)?

WHAY HAY! SORTED!!!

Got the AA to come and have a once over, after about 20 mins he checked the whole car and the work i'd done fitting the new coupe flange.

he then decided to check the fuses (something i really should have checked myself :o  ) and it turns out the some type of engine control reletate fuse had blown which was stopping the car from starting

anyway once he replaced the fuse, i turned the key and BROOM! she started !!

boy am i happy, but im going to take the car to someone else to repair from now on

:D
