Hi,

Got a question about number plate surrounds and wanted your thoughts on this one.

Which one do you think looks better?

Black :

Silver :

What coloiurs your car Sphinx???

I think the white will stand out more on a dark car and the blk will look cool on a light coloured car!

Thats just my opinion. but then again, if youre going the stealth colour code looks go what ever matches closest to the car. [cool

Mine is Met Biarritz Blue.

I have actually put silver ones on mine and they don't look that bad.

Just wondering which ones you guys have got installed on what colour are you cars.

Personally I'd prefer black on a blue car as its not as much of a clash of colours, for something simple like the plate surround, they're one of the mods you do that is subtle yet pleasing to the eye and I think the silver surrounds could look a lil out of place, much like chrome wing mirrors :P

I think silver on blue can look good, sometimes it's nice to have a contrast. I went for black as I have a black car, but I'm gonna change them to silver at some point

My 530d is silver and fitted the black ones for contrast.

How much are the number plate surrounds? are they screwed onto the car? my number plates are stuck on with heavy duty sticky pads. Will they be easy to remove without daming the plates?

if you have the chrome line around windows etc then go for the silver. if you have the shadow line then black to match.

The number plate surround are around £25 each.

They do screw onto the car to make secure.

The heavy duty sticky pads arn't that difficult to remove, but you need patience as too much force will break the plate.

I used a long screwdriver and a stanley knife, then used some label remover to clean the plate up.

You can buy replacement pads from halfords for about £1.80 for 2.

I would recommend at least 4 pads though.
