I have been scratching my head over this for around a week now, and can think of no easy way around it. The self levelling on the zenons is fixed to the front R swing arm by a small connecting rod. This is fixed in size and connects straight to the plastic arm for the self levelling of the F lights.
Once the car is lowered then the arm is raised and the lights point skyward, dazzling everyone in your way. I have disconnected the arm and levelled the lights manually by moving the plastic arm, and they are now fine, yet about 20/30mm too low to be rejoined to the control rod - there are plenty of lowered M3's on here so whats the trick guys - unless you all have the lights going up of course ! [hmm :D

Dude, without self levelling, you'll blind on coming traffic when your car is on the move. What you do is once your car is lowered, you manually realign the xenons using the turn knobs located above and behind you headlamps. Drive you car to around 30 feet off a flat wall and adjust the light beam till it's of equal height on both side. As to how high for the cut off, I can't give you a figure. You just have to tweak it till it's fine for both you and on coming traffic.

the self levelling works off sensors on the front and rear suspension, it figures out the difference in ride height and adjusts accordingly. The idea is to compensate for more weight in the rear causing the back to drop requiring the headlights to also drop so as not to dazzle. If the front is lower too, there is no need for the car to make the adjustment.
Make sense?
When I dropped mine on the PSS9, I did not need to get the headlights adjusted, because the front and rear went down, the car automatically adjusted for it.
My suspension is set to almost as low as it can go with no problems whatsoever.
Be careful as at one point I managed to pop off the rear leveller without realising it, that does send it all out of whack.

I had issues when mine was first lowered. They were pointing skywards :D
Dealership could not re-align mine despite 4 attempts (changed the sensors twice); when they got the alignment right the light output deteriorated inexplicably. After BMW UK involvement I got complete brand new Xenon replacements under the AUC warranty (although I had to contribute £100 labour :( )

Front and Rear have both been lowered, both of the units are connected and they both seem to work, just the lights are skyward, I think a manual adjustment is in order

Weird. I dropped mine and left the xenons alone to see what happened - seemed perfect and not yet done any adjustment to them in 6 months. Making me paranoid now, gonna have to go check them tonight lol. :)
