Hi,
My bro once had a 2001 318ci which he ordered with the BMW tv screen. It was the small screen which incorporated the computer etc and also the cdplayer/tape controls
Now - im hopefully buying a 2002 318ci at the weekend. It has the BMW tape player and 6 disc changer in the boot.
My question is - can the smaller TV be retro fitted in a plug and play style? Or is there a whole bunch of wireing to be done - and is simple a pain in the arse?
Im NOT talking about the widescreen tv/sat-nav retro fit, since ive seen the impressive writeups on the web of this being done successfully.
If it can be done, anyone done it and what costs am i lookin at?
Thanks
Jamie

I'd say that's pretty not much plug-and-play, not cheap, and definitely a pain in the arse. That's modding for you - Do it!! :D

Small TV can be retrofitted. If you have the appropriate wiring loom, and additional units as shown in the link, it is actually meant to be pretty straightforward, the BMW plugs are awesome in that they only fit one thing and one way, so you can't get them confused. Just take your time and follow the instructions, throw in a bit of logic and you'll be all set.
I would love to do this project, but I'm changing cars this year so there's no real point

I got the TV you are talking about retrofitted into my 330vert for £1,300 fitted including TV tuner + Navigation from a guy advertising in E-bay. All installed professionally and aircon unit moved down to sunglasses holder.
Anyone want's details for him let me know.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
It took the guy under 2 hours to do the whole install, including the sat nav, dvd etc.
I'm sure he'd fit you'rs for a small fee!
Got a 1 year warantee with it.

Hi everyone, I am new here and am looking to fit a Navigation system to an E46. With all the Knowledge on this forum I just couldn’t afford no to join and tap into some of it. Any help will be appreciated and I promise to do a write up when I am finished as a sign of my gratitude.
What I need to know is if the retrofit cable set is universal to all Navigation systems/ Car spec.? actually What I really want to know is can I just use this loom to fit a MK4 Unit to a 2003 E46 with Business radio? And besides the amount of work involved is there any difference between the complete wiring harness and the retrofit one?
Also can anyone shed light on the following parts mentioned by h4rpy, what are they and where do they fit in to the retrofit scheme of things?
Front base support system
Rear base support system
Thanks
K
