View Full Version : Mercedes has gone mad...again
I know the info has been out for some time but each time i read them, just cant keep thinking how powerful bmw is going to make the new M3.
CLK 63 AMG 481BHP
CLS 63 AMG 514BHP.
These figures are just crazy. plus they have new 7G-tronic box which is supposed to be more like the db9 touchtronic, so it gets throttle blips etc.
Also in early 2007 there releasing the SLk63 aMG (481bhp). im sorry but a big v8 in a car shorter than a fiat punto just makes me :D .

I would think BMW are able to make a light weight V8 with 450 BHP , what are the CLS 0-100km/h numbers? how does it compar to the M5 since its only 7 BHP more
Mercedes are quoting CLS63 0-100km/h 4.5secs
clk 63 amg at 4.6 secs.
check out www.mercedes-amg.com
they havent updated for the new cls63 but its a nice site.

Whizzkid Blimey thats uncanny the interior of the 5 and S.
Mind you those new AMG powertrain/drivetrains are supposed to be Awesome.
I'm considering the new CL when it comes out in AMG guise.
the guy that designed the powertrain/drivetrain of these new AMG's is Bernd Ramler.
Never heard of him, you might have heard of the powertrain/drivetrains he helped make/design.
everheard of the 996 GT3, well this was the guy who made the engine, gearbox and electrics !
he was the one who made sure the Carrera Gt got that V10, manual gearbox and ceramic clutch !
btw you know AMG have Twin Turbo 6.3 V8s beginning final testing ! [ok

I wonder how BMW is going to respond to all this , but there is an M6 CSL coming soon , this always makes me wonder about how powerful the New BMW V10 is and how powerful the M6 CSL could be (http://www.worldcarfans.com/tuners.cfm/tunerid/7051201.001/country/gcf/BMW/hamann-bmw-m5)
The high-revving 5 litre V10 with 507 bhp and 520 Nm is not allowed to show off the full effects of its power in the series version. But just how fast might the M5 be able to race? HAMANN supplies the answer: 327 km/h, which is achieved solely by means of Vmax override. For those who are not satisfied with this and who desire even more power, HAMANN offers now a solution. The Laupheim-based tuner provides the M5 with a sports-kit composed of high-performance headers, sports metal catalysts, a engine map optimisation and a Vmax-override. The 10-cylinder engine then produces lordly 603 hp and 574 Nm.
so they changed the Headers and the catalysts and engine map an the got about 100 BHP more , just imagine what BMW could do....
