....we will know tomorrrow , as we are taking our latest creation to Brunty with BMW CAR magazine to have it officially tested , along with MARKSG 's E46 330 that we recently supercharged and fitted suspension etc to .
I have not been posting up too much recently , as we have been flat out with some company expansion , setting up a new workshop partnership ( as per recent post by Nick ) and building some cars ,will expand on all this in a future post :)
Anyway , back to the M3 .
We kept this one quiet until now .
This is CA 's own car ( ie roys , not to be confused with Merlins car ,which is same colour and also one of our cars , more on that one later too ) , a 2003 SMG M3 coupe , bought in completely standard form .
The car has been fitted with active autowerke stage 2 supercharger and, according to the dyno this is by far the most powerful one we have built to date , (thanks to a few new in house secret tricks :) , 460 bhp measured on two seperate days, and yes we have verified dyno charts :D . We have used the same dyno to test all 5 M3 cars we have so far supercharged to maintain consistency. Not quite up to active's claim of 490 ish but close enough, and it feels like a rocket !
The car has the usual peripheral upgrades such as :
pss9 coilovers
stoptech front and rear BBK s
Vorsteiner carbon fibre csl boot and new design full width front splitter Vorsteiner csl rear diffuser , which is being changed for a proper DTM functional downforce diffuser also in carbon
carbon interior everything ...
Michelin PS2 tyres
laser jammers front and rear
rear shock mounts
powerflex bushes
eisenmann exhaust
racing catalysts
x pipe
votex exhaust unit
carbon side gills
angel eyes
usual CA lighting upgrades
LED rear lights
We have been at Bruntingthorpe for past two weekends testing the car , biggest problem being traction and fried clutches ! The modified E34 M5 clutch originally supplied just was not up to the smg 's demands .
Finally ZF Sachs came up with a custom unit capable of taking 600 Nm torque , just finished fitting it and so far so good , will know for sure tomorrow when we give it proper welly .
The car easily goes off the clock at the Brunty straight , thats over 185 mph indicated !! we have not had chance to properly test 0 - 60 and 0 -100 due to the aforementioned clutch issues, again will do so tomorrow .
I will post up the results ( as long as itdoes not rain ) Friday or weekend .
meanwhile here are some preview pics taken at Brunty Sunday last , meanwhile some pics for your perusal
all the best

evening gents
well unfortunately rain stopped play today :(
despite a promising sunny start to the morning, the second we got to brunty it started raining .
So in short we could not lay down any times .We will be going back next weekend with BMW Car magazine to do dry proper runs.
Good news is the new custom Sachs clutch seems awesome , not more smg problems or slow changes ....for now. This fits manual and smg cars , I highly recommend it even for mildly tuned Ms , it just so strong yet you can still poodle in traffic no problem .
We did attempt some top speed runs in the rain and got to an indicated 180 mph , but the car is still on oem brakes so we had to brake far sooner than normal so due to this and the rain results were low . I am estimating there is another 15 - 20 mph there , the car was not near the redline at this point either , as you will see from the video we will post up soon . The runway is just too short.
Traction was a major issue on the rather rough surface and "repaired with frictionless material " areas of the track. As Lee will verify we actually "hopped" sideways at least half a lane width on the main straight at about 160 mph at one point ( am having surgery to remove my sphincter from its new location at bottom of my throat ) .
We all had 160 degree moments today .
Top speed runs were not helped by fact that half of the available width of the track was taken up by other cars doing high speed control training ....whilst coming towards us ! ..and occasionally overcooking it and sliding towards our half of the track . Oh yeah , and then just after that ( we are at about 150 mph now ) there on our left we have ....lorries doing skid pan training ! I kid you not....
Just for the hell of it we tried a few timed o- 60 runs , with traction , with a wet track ( not moist but wet ) WITHOUT the smg using launch control facility , just stamping on the throttle ,and to my surprise managed a best of 6.2 secs . Think about it ... traction control on ,wet surface , no launch control , no clutch to balance take off / spin ... and still 6.2 secs . For the record , most M3 struggle to achieve under 5.7 ish secs in the "real word " in perfect dry conditions , without dsc etc . Not bad .
all the best

it can be arranged ...:)
best way I can describe it is this , bearing in mind I am still getting used to the car : Remember as a kid going into a fairly rough wavy sea and "catching" a big wave and it would carry you all the way to the shore ? well its like that only the shore never comes , the thing just keeps pulling and pulling then pulls even more until you hit the rev limiter . I am not just bigging up our own product here ..ask Lee etc who drove it :) Alex and Dan will tell you the same , It spins changing into third in the dry when at full pelt

AND NOT LEAST ...a BIG thanks to Lee , Teddy and Gary for taking time off work to attend and support in the apalling conditions , real troopers [cool

Same thing happened to me - seeing a Lotus Elise sliding towards your side of the track at an approach speed close to 200mph does focus your attention!

Juber - we were driving towards each other (well there was a row of cones between us!)- even though a 2 mile straight seems a long way, I (only!) made it to an indicated 140 mph before thinking the car park was approaching rather quickly!

LOL ....damn you for noticing :p
yes , I made the first plate up in arush and got it slightly wrong
Roy i'm really going to have to take a spin in your motor mate :D
I was thinking about changing to a 911TT next year, but if the upgrade you have is reliable and can be used everyday...this could be another option while saving £££ and not changing cars.
Will discuss with you when I see you...but the clutch is a definate, maybe after were back from the Ring :)

Mits ,
Lee and also Gary i believe, were in the M3 when I was testing it and quite easily out accelerated a Ferrari Modena and Porche GT3( or was it GT 2 guys ??) on the straight ....and they had a head start !!
I have covered 1500 miles in her now since conversion and she has not missed a beat . She poodles along in heavy stop- start traffic for hours as easily as she fills my pants at an indicated 180 or more on the track .
You have to experience it for yourself , I never imagined a car could be so "best of all worlds " as this , I am not just saying this because we sell these kits and build the cars , ask anyone who owns or drives one :)
If you are serious then come along saturday Mits , I promise you an eye opener of an experience ....
