Whassup dudes and the ever growing number of dudettes!!
Right.....
My Cuz has a 330i....lives in saudi arabia, bought it from dubai 6 months ago....has had a full BMW service history (those of you who know about the gulf region , will know that the standards in the UAE, when it comes to cars are much higher than that of saudi)
anyway....he's been changing the oil every 5000km, which is a habit for him as he has owned sh1theap american oil guzzlin cars before....he's been using castrol SLX
he recently took his 330 to a local 'bmw approved' workshop, they looked under his oil cap and found some kind of 'cooked' oil flakes under the rocker cover and on the oil cap.....
now they say that the car needs a 'bmw approved' engine flush, which will take 3 days...and cost a bomb..apparently the engine will be cleaned and washed (sounds like bollox to me)...and they believe that this was caused by a oil change using the wrong grade of oil....which my cousin confirms he did do, using mobil 1 semi syth (does this exist)
Anyway imma cut da LONG TINGG!!
Is it possible to have 'cooked' or burnt oil flakes from using the wrong oil??
and will these 'flakes' cause a blockage in the engine channels etc etc.??
any advice would be appreciated!!! :D
