Hi all this is my first ever forum and ive just joined so please excuse me if i get anything wrong. I have a 320d 136ps ive done a few little mods including a vp44 speed buster and an induction kit but the power delivery is so slow there must be somthing wrong i cant figure out what it could be anybody out there ever experienced a similar problem. any help would be greatly appriciated? Ive also bought some lowering springs 30mm drop (standard shocks) but ive been told if i put them in the ball joints will need replacing every few months and my shocks will give. what shall i do? [hmm

welcome to the forum priseless.
I take it the vp44 is a plug in delimiter yes ?
What induction kit is fitted ?
any other mods to the car , and at what point did the low power problem start ?
ive been running on standard shocks with lowering springs. No major problems. Yes no doubt they probably stress out the parts a little but changing every few months?! That sounds a bit extreme.

regarding the suspension , sound like some " old boy " has been giving you advice , probably went to the university of " well if the manufacturer didnt fit it them its not required "
Having said that i hope I caused no offence with that above statement .
In a nutshell :
1. yes lowered springs put some additional wear on joints , but negligible on a car of BMW quality
2. yes the shocks will wear fastre , but same deal as no 1 above
however , if you can afford it I would ALWAYS fit uprated dampers with yprated springs to match the rebound rates with the new higher spring rates . this will alwways give optimal handling

Hi sorry for the late response i keep having problems with this server it dont always let me in.
Thanks for your reply.
The VP44 is a tuning box.
the induction kit is a universal one nothing special i thoght id try it.
The problem is not with the amount of power its the time it takes for the power to come trhough. When i turn at a juction i press the pedal down completely and after about 5-6 seconds the car finally starts to go. i thing its somthing to do with the boost. any ideas?
Mods so far . 18" mv2,short shift, two carbon fibre spoilers, m3 frunt bumper, eye browns, vp44.
and soon be lowered + leathers

sound like an air leak of some sort or problem with compressor bearings .
Out of intersest have you disconnected the vp44 to see if any difference ?
let me know if you want us to look at it for you

I finally found the problem it was the air flow meter evan though i did get a new one the dealers never told me that my car would need a software update for it to fuction correctly. After taking everything off one by one and checking i found the fault and now my vp44 works like a treat. thanks for your help.
now i can get on with the mods... [banana

I thought induction kits were only for petrol cars such as Cold Air Induction Kits, is there a difference?

tuning priciples are basically the same ; any combustion engine is basically a sophisticated air pumping mechanism . The more and the faster youi can pump air in and out , the more power and response you will make .
Our universal CA induction kits have been succesfully fitted to many a diesel :)

Wow this sounds promising Roy [banana [banana [banana
Do you have pics and prices What power gain would you expect here should be, and any improvement on the sound?
And I thought the only engine improvment with a diesel was a tuning box/ DMS re-map.

the re map will give the biggest single gains for sure ; but induction and exhaust will help also , Id suggest Eisenmann exhaust and our carbon intake as below

Thanks for the pick but my diesel is a late 2004 spec the air intake in on the other side

Does this make a difference in the fitting, Do I just need to remove the plastic cover?

That image was just to demonstrate the intake type , we can modify / adapt it to most applications :)
