I want to start planning my next big mod, which is going to be a BBK (to reign in all 143 ponies ;) ) however, how do I know if a BBK will fit behind my wheels? What are the measurements I need to take? Do BBK manufacturers offer some kind of template?
Roy, if you're reading this, I've been a REALLY good boy this year, will you be my Santa and leave a shiny new BBK on my front door step (don't have a chimney :D)

Wow thats a cool link to have 330ciconvertible :D i could have done with that b 4.
Fas i'm sure your alloys would be more than accomodating for a bbk.

Fronts no problem. You have plenty of space but the rears are pretty tight. You don't have much more give and take to space the rear wheel out further.
Brembo's may have something that can fit your car?

there's a clearance guide diagram (http://www.brembo.com/CatalogoHPGT/DetailPages/clearance.aspx?id=33.0009.04/06&idLingua=1)
AP RAcing :
AP Racing a very very good brand (and I believe brembo bought them out a few years back) AP Racing are more akinned to Track performance, but still with some good road pads, normal road applications can be done..
They have a nice 6piston caliper kit.. 8j x 18" bbs alloys minimum clearance levels.
Or a 4pot kit..
AP Racing brakes for e46 (non m3). (http://www.apracing.com/roadcar/brakekit/data.asp)
good detailed clearance guides for 4pot (pdf download)
right click save as... (http://www.apracing.com/roadcar/brakekit/p12094.pdf)
Kad Design :
Also if you want a custom made 4 or 6pot caliper.. these folks in essex will be able to do a kit using the AP Racing discs/pads etc, but a lighter custom caliper in possibly any colour you like...
they were going to fabricate a custom kit for my M5 a couple of years ago, had their kit on my old P1 scooby, which was excellent.

Hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm going to go Front only for now, well Jan / Feb time.
Nick, I'll take you up on your offer for a test fit, that'll be pretty cool to see if they'll fit.
Tin, I looked at the second link for the generic kits, there doesn't seem to be one listed for a non M e46 front, just the rear?
