hi guys

hope this is an apt question for this section :

does anyone out there know of a multi region hack for the Philips DVP 524 home dvd player ?

I can find hacks for almost all other models but not this .....

£20 credit at CA for the right answer ....seriously .... [cool

think this is it:

- Press "System Menu" key to enter Set Up menu.
- Move to "Preference Page" using arrow keys to the left or to the right.
- Press the following sequence in the remote control: 135566
- A menu indicating "Region Code" will appear.
- Change region using arrow keys to top or down. Region Code = 0 will play all regions.
- Press "System Menu" key to exit Set Up menu.

to get to the preference page just press system menu on remote then immediately press the right arrow to navigate to/display options titled preference page. Then enter the code as previously posted. You should see the icons changing on the top bar as you navigate along.

Let me know if it works ;)

hi Afif

yes i have read that hack , but does not work as my menu will not allow the curser to choose the "preference " page on the menu screen , the cursor slips right over it and settles onto the sound menu icon instead ....damn

thanks anyway tho '

Had a quick scan of tin'ternet and found this possible solution to the above hack:

to get to the preference page just press system menu on remote then immediately press the right arrow to navigate to/display options titled preference page. Then enter the code as previously posted. You should see the icons changing on the top bar as you navigate along. Hope this helps.

Failing that - i'd get one of Asda's Pacific dvd players - about £22 and plays pretty much everything

Yeah Asda's player is a real bargain - best budget player i've bought and totally out performs my £400 panasonic player

I know what you mean , I remember my first ever region free dvd player , also Panasonic , was nearly £2k , over 7 years ago !
Now you walk into a supermarket and can pick up a £50 player and picture quality is better :)

The only thing I find on these cheaper players is that they take for ever to load up and the menu features are sparse . But hey waht do I want for £50 quid eh ?!
