Hi guys,

Im toying with the idea of getting an IPOD partly to use on the move, on holiday and to catalogue all my tunes etc but mainly for the car :D as Im fed up of changing CD's in the autochanger. I know I'll need a fitting kit like the Dension Ice Link etc but for those who own an IPOD how does the sound quality compare to CD's ? Ive never used one either are they easy or a bit of a pain. Totally newbie to them any advice welcome.

Cheers

Pete :)

id assume the sound quality would be dependant on the bitrate of the track.

Are you an audiophile? If so, you'll notice the difference. If however, you're like me and NOT an audiophile. Sounds absolutely fine :)

Ive been into car audio for a few years on and off and can tell when something sounds good and not but I wouldn't say I listen out for every little detail. Ive got a top sound system in my house.

iPods are well known for having bad sound quality compared to others on the market.

Just have a listen to the Sony HD5 and there is a big difference, same song same bitrate.

The only advantage of getting an ipod is that you can get the ice link. If you are tempted by just using phono cables then dont buy an ipod.

Other players on the market are cheaper, small, better battery, better built and less common.

I do like my Sony stuff and have seen that the HD5 looks cool. Is it easy to fit in the car ? Im guessing it won't charge etc ? As you can tell Im pretty new to these.

Cheers

I have to say, that while i love my music, i can't tell the difference between cd and the ipod when connected through phono leads.

Absolutely love having mine with me when i'm in the car, and would hate to be without it now.

I never really bothered looking at any others, and i don't thiink i would npw either, there might be better out there, but the build quality is excellent and with 3 in the house now, have not had any problems with any of them...!
