What width tyre would you run on a rear alloy of 9.5" & 45 offset. The car will be lowered on Eibach pro springs, 320cd sport.

275? 265? 255?

I'm led to believe that 275's may rub, but some have got away with it. 265's seem to be the safe bet and personally I think 255's will look too stretched. My main concern is that I do not want to rub!

What setups you 19" non M drivers running? Will 265's rub with people in the back? (no mandy's - no offence Matt :D )

Opinons welcomed.........

Depend which brand of tyres you put on. If is PS2 265 on 9.5'' rim should look good without stretch but if is tyres like Falken 452 then will be different as they do look a bit narrow on the shoulder.
Thats how mine's look like with PS2 265

Hope that help..:)

265 is the max you can have on a non-m with an arch roll.

but all depends on tyre brand

i was running a 10*19 rear on my very with a 265 and no rubbing, I have seen e46 with 275 on the rear and they dont rub either (I friend of mine had this on his rear). the Toyo or Falken tyres have a more forgiving tyre wall and they curve inwards which is less likely to give you some rubbing.

E46 M3 rear 9.5J runs a 255/35, so it won't look streched if you use a Pirelli,Conti,PS2.

I think I might have spoken with you yesterday :D

Thanks for the replies guys, very useful as always!

The tyres I will be running are the Falken FK452's, they get decent reviews considering the price plus I read they are less prone to causing rubbing as westside kindly said.

I really wanted a 275 tyre and know that some people have run these without any rubbing or rolling. But knowing my luck it would rub - so I played it safe and went with a 265. I'm hoping a 265 with a Eibach drop will not rub or require arch mods!

Davidch - It wasn't me you were speaking with yesterday

My rear wheel is 9j I think, 265 with FK452 were too wide (even with arches rolled). I got significant rubbing when the car had more than 2 people in, now I am running 235s and it still rubs over big speed humps.

The offset of the wheels will make different too. But i am not sure how far would it go with ET45. May be just use some old tyres to test fit before buying new tyres. Good lucky..:)

Mho, your offset of rear wheels is likely to be different to mine. As that will have an effect on how close the alloy will sit to the arch without even taking the tyres into account. 235 on 9" tyre any pics?

I have 19" x 10" with 265/30/19 Falken FK452's with an offset of ET45 lowered on Eibach Pro Kit I had to have the arches rolled as on full travel I would get the odd rub.

Now I don't get any rubbing from the tyres but if trying really really hard can get the rim to touch the arch:o

Hi 666 ACS,

Thanks for the reply. That gives me some confidence that I should be ok with the setup I'm looking at as the drop is the same, offset, choice of tyre but my rim is 0.5" narrower (no cheeky jokes!). There must be some stretch on your rears, any pics?

My Alpina rears are 19 x 9.5j and I have 265/30/19 Falken 452's and an ET of 47 with no rubbing or clearance issues at all. I have stock sport springs and shocks and have no bother even with a boot full of shopping

Now that's stretched!!!, can see why you would catch the rim before the tyre!

It should be fine to run that tyre set up as ET45 is perfect offset for the E46, it may be the case that if you have people in the back and the boot full you get the odd rub :) a simple arch roll will eliminate any issues though.

Im running 9.5 ET 35 and 245 tyres (falkens) i have the arches rolled and its fine. I do get some rubbing 'IF' i let people in the back.
