I have an annoying vibration noise coming from the area around my light switch. If I push the LCM lightly the vibration stops.

I took the trim off around the switch tonight to expose the screws and was expecting to see at least two screws holding in the LCM with maybe one slightly loose.

Problem is there is only one screw hold in the LCM (right hand side screw) but there is a hole on the left to accept a second screw in both the LCM body and the dash but it hasn't ever been screwed into as there is clearly no mark that a screw has ever been inserted.

The exact same is true of the airvent above it, just one screw securing it to the dash when there is provision for two.

So, has anybody taken the trim off from around their LCM/light switch and noticed if you had just the one screw or two?

I am going to BMW tomorrow to pick up two screws for mine but just interested to see if there should be two screws in each or if BMW decided not to properly secure mine at the factory!!!!

Maybe Andy (icecold) has the answer as he must pull these LCMs out on a regular basis :p .

PMSL!!

Just to quickly digress....

Was in Tesco the other day in the magazine section. Saw a copy of Total BMW. Had a bit of a double take moment when I noticed Paul's car on the cover. (I had actually seen the thread but completely forgot. I should write my own mag 'Total Memory Loss!' Lol!)

The write up was excellent and it was a very entertaining read! Nice work Paul! :D

FPMSL, you cant as one is just a blank hole with nothing for the screw to "bite" on. :D

I already tried. :o

I got a hole in the dash behind the left hand side empty screw hole. Will be making sure a screw fits in the bastard hole :p . If not, I'll aradite the fucker in, the vibration is seriously annoying me!!

My 328ci had 2 screws holding in the LCM as I remember when I had to change my LCM for the LED rear light upgrade.

It's obviously weight saving gone made on the M3...
