How do I go about fitting a H.I.D kit to my e46 which has no projectors in the lights, surely they will blind everyone, and where do people mount the ballast boxes?
You fit the HID bulbs as per normal bulbs. The light will still be in the normal projection but just more intense. Plus you can stil manuall adjust the light down.
I am also considering a HID kit for my E46 but abit worried that it might not look right and i will be blinding other people.

a well made kit will be simply to fit (direct plug and play) with specific E46 H7 bulb adaptor included, and a pair of specific ballast made for BMW to get rid of the dash warning light.
A good quality kit all HID bulbs will have a good beam pattern and focus therefore does not blind oncoming traffic, and like others said it's a good idea to manually adjust the lights so they point a bit lower just in case your car ride height has been chaged for some reason.
we have sold many BMW specific HID kits and have not had problems with people complaining about blinding oncoming traffic.
the ballast box can be mounted near the suspension turret or just cable tied to other places away from the engine heat. on driver side you can use double sided tape to mount it on the washer tank.
hope this helps
Ive done abit of researching and have found a new style HID kit bulb. Its a H7R which is supose to be for cars without projectors as it focuses the light better,

I gave them a ring and can do a E46 kit with new bulb holders, the new H7R bulbs and capacitors all for £80.

Thats awesome, thanks very much I'll be getting that kit ASAP. I've heard that 5000k is the best to get, is that true?
i will be getting 4300k so it will look as close to oem as possible. 6000k is too blue for my liking

this looks quite promising, but a guy at e46zone said the beam pattern was still crap with these bulb, if any of you guys got em could you post an update after your install becuase i would really liek these if they are correct in stating that they reduce glare. oh and do they come with resistors
oh and lastly hello guys
The beam pattern will still not be perfect but will be better than standard HID kits.
Anyway i have just bought OEM Xeon headlamps which ill be fitting instead.

while on the subject of HID lighting, I've been looking at getting some for a e46 coupe, i'm hoping someone here will be able to advise when it stated by manufactures, Certificate: E24-Mark approval, ISO9001:2000 or certificate:E13-mark approval, ISO9001:2000. what is the difference?

I've just had a look and the kit they recommend is the "Ultimate Kit" which comes out as £199 with normal bulbs and £209 with anti-glare blubs for non projector.

Thats quite expensive. I bought original xenon headlamps for £220 with everything i needed. Plus you can sell the standard halogen ones on ebay to recoup some money.
