Although i dont mind the standard rims that much now they've grown on me a bit its time to fit something to show off my brakes and make the car a bit mare individual.
I'm asking you fellas to help me out with some choices.
I love the LM's and think they suit the 5 to a T, but everyone puts LM's on an M5, so i want something a bit different.
I love the look of the Jade r's on M3's but not sure if they would look right on the 5 as they are to modern looking.
I kinda like the idea that black sabbath had with i think it was the volk's, but as my car is avus blue i think polished rim with graphite grey centres or something would suit??
Give me some good ideas please fellas, with pics if poss. I already have the following pics, but none float my boat. Think the Jade r's on the M3 look the bollox though.

Yeah, the 18's look better, i like them, but would have to be 19's and staggered.

2 rims that I love on the E39, the LMs and ACS Type 3 (non-racing). The latter especially if you have BBKs.
The Type 3s make the stance so much more aggressive, especially with that deep concave profile both front and rear. Work fantastically well with the M5.
Breyton rims are tarty, for a conservative car like the E39 M5, IMO. They dress the car up, but conflict the original theme.
Some other rims available Stateside that do look good, but 99.9% of them have polished lips, which will corrode in no time in the UK; plus they cost £4000+ just for a set, given the exchange rates now.
If you can find a set, ACS Type 3s get my vote, after the LMs ;)

I would say less spokes will show off the BBK much better as well. Not sure the Breytons would do that, but as Nick said the ACS ones look good, after the Volks of course ;) ;)

How about LM-R's? Seeing as you like LM's best but are common on M5's on forums they are similar yet show the brakes of more.

I changed mine from ACS Type 2 Split Rims to ACS Type 3 single piece.
In my books the only ones that suit the M5 are:
1. BBS LMs
2 ACS type3
Sometimes being different can go against you... if others have them there must be a good reason for it!

Do some research and go find something totally different, all the above alloys mentioned have all been done before on an M5 or 5 series Sport. :)
Try some of the german car forums for inspiration ;)

Make ya right!! Not that i would do it on the M5 but i love it when you see for example porsche wheels on an audi or SR4 brakes on a golf. It shows to me the ownewr has really done his homework.

the Type III Racing are the split rim ones, yes.
I personally think the ACS Type 3's suit the 5, it has that polished dish to it that makes the 5 look bigger for some reason :S

I'm in a bit of a dilemma here.
See at the moment i have chance to buy either of the above mentioned wheels, the acs type 3 racing or the bbs lm's both of which i think suit the m5 superbly.
My problem is i'm just not sure what to do my brain is telling me to just go for either and know they're gonna suit my car, but then there's something saying wait and do somethin different.

I would get the LM's if you can get a good deal on them. I do have to say that I really like the Racin Dynamics on Silverstone that Raj posted, that will be very rare (probably hard to find too).

+1. Love Ac's. Without split rim though. Great design to show of those BBK's too. Big problem though....finding a set for M5 with correct offset

Hmmm.. the fact is that they both look amazing on the car, are the BBS more common though?

IME, 'being different' when it comes to mods is a short lived novelty. You'll get bored of what you perceived as unique not long ago. If I were to dump £££ on a set of wheels, I would buy something that is evergreen; because:
1) Their appeal is long/longer lasting
2) They are the choice of aficionados. As such, if you like them, it is very likely a lot more people will like them; and hence, selling them on is never going to be a problem.
There is a reason why used LMs and Type 3s are so hard to come by ;)
'Boring' it might sound, but you'll thank me when you see a set of classically good looking rims that you have paid £££ on your M5, which you'll have no desire to change :)
^^^ Excellent advice from Nick (once again) :)

Spot on Sir, spot on !!!
Listen to Nick !!!!
I have to say LM's are sick but i have yet to see a better M5 than Tins or Carls old one, both incidentally on ACS 3's !

Yes, i must say Nick has this knowledgeable way off instantly laying it on the line lol.
I reckon when he was a young boy instead of his parents buying him the hungry caterpillar or the cat in the hat to sit and read with him they must have brought him numerous car magazines and literature based on car modding lol.

Ok, the update is.
I have rang round all the places i know and basically i cant get Breyton visions (Discontinued). No one can get hold of the Racing dynamics SR2's. So it looks like my choice is narrowed down a bit lol.
