Got to say the foam really helps when cleaning the rims!

No offense to any1. But I cant see why you have to spend £40+ on foam lance where Karcher own version cost £5.

So wait. You can detail your car, get it all waxed up and nice, and use this foam for maintenance? Just reading the instructions, it says it cleans without removing wax? what's the deal here? Quick foam, rinse and done? Or foam, wash, wax etc. ?

Looks good, but do these foam washes not have a nasty habit of ruining your wheels very quickly if there are any small chips in the laquer or the finish?
Sure I saw an article on it somewhere....

Its crap, you pay for what you get. Snow foam has mild cleaning detergents that helps to break down the dirt. Used in the right quantities will not eat away at the wax. With a pressure washer it will get rid of a lot of the dirt so there will be very little need to use a wash mitt or sponge.

Ok I've never used a Karcher either, could someone break it down for me in terms of what I'd need to use this system?
And does it really cut your car washing time in half?
So I'd need:
A Karcher (Obviously)
This Foam Lance thingy
But which shampoo/car wash do you use?
That link was slightly confusing?
Are you using different products at each stage? Do you have to do this?
Thanks
ps sorry for the noob like questions

Basically the snow foam replaces the car shampoo and bucket process. You spray the snow foam on the car, leave for 5 mins. If the car is really dirty then just run a wash mitt over the car, rinse and dry.
You will need a Pressure washer
foam lance
snow foam/Car shampoo.

I would not say it halves the cleaning time but makes washing the car easier.

Sorry for further stupid questions but how long does 5 litres of snow foam last?
And finally, which foam is best to use and where can that be sourced from when the 5 litres runs out?
Thanks for your patience

5 litres will last quite a while. All depends on how much you wash the car. The 1 litre container i got is enough to do 2 cars. I dont know what the best foam is your best bet is to do some reading http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php

aftab bruv... what mixture did you use..
i used 1cm of snow foam and 1 cm of megs gold class... and filled it up with warm water...
plenty to do 2 cars though... i used a mitt after though to get some of the more stubborn marks off.. but on the whole it removed the grime pretty easily...

there not £5 but £15 from halfords. There are none for £5 on ebay anymore.
The £45+ model is for professionals who will use them everyday, metal housing will last longer especially if you were to step on it. The £15 one is for light use.

I used 1.5 inches of super snow foam. Sometimes i use a bit of snoe foam and duragloss 901 shampoo.

I have heard of horror stories where the lance comes off due to high pressure, make sure you have the plastic connection and not the brass ones, I have not used ones, but a guy on a RS4 forum had one break and hit car, it cuased some pretty bad damage, so just a word of warrning, I will try and dig out what model number it was!
I want one of these :D :D

The lance i have is a push and twist fitment, Its only gonna come off when i take it off not by high pressure water. But i know what your talking about.

Iv always used the snow foam as an additional step to my usual cleaning routine, just to shift the light layer of dirt so to prevent swirl marking when i go over the car with the usual bucket method.
Do you not find that it only removes 50% of the dirt?
I rinse off after 5 mins and the resume the usual washing technique. Im to scared ot go over it with a wash mit as the dirt that has been lifting is still lurking in thefoam so wouldnt you just be rubbing that back onto your bodywork?

foamed my vert... earlier... sorry nick... didnt take any pics but u can image how the slightest mark can stand out a mile on a white car...
1st i lightly wet the car... then... sprayed a layer of snow foam that was mixed with megs gold class... left for 5 mins... rinsed... then another coat of snow foam left for... 3 mins this time then... helped it along with the mit (2 bucket method) and it was a breeze...
then dryed the whole car... including the wheels... and u can guess what happened next... it absoluted pissed it down HARDCORE... lovely jubbly...
well here are the pics...

You should not really wet the car before the snow foam because the foam will not cling onto the paint as effectively as if you had done it when the car was dry.
Very interesting. I too would be interested to know how dirty the car was before. Plus all this talk of mixtures, etc. I read through that thread and found he went on a lot about different mixtures, etc, but trying to work out what ratio to use myself would be the pain in my butt?????.
