Hi guys – Could you share your advice on fitting a DVD Changer to the OEM 16:9 screen?

I’ve just installed a TV Motion cable in my car and so far so good – the signal is not cut out when the car is in motion. I got it at a bargain price of £67.50 - which is a hell of a lot better than the extortionate prices Mobile Centre ][http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/tvinmotion2.html] charge. £175?!?!?!

Unfortunately I still had to do business with mobilecentre to purchase the AV lead for £65.00 – I don’t know how these people sleep at night, the most that cable should be is £20-30 with a very large mark-up, but I wasn’t aware of any other retailer supplying a cable, so ce la ve.....

Anyway enough of my ranting about enduring capitalist moguls taking advantage of the easily exploitable…. How hard is this install gonna be? I’ve not yet received the AV cable as despite charging an extortionate fee, mobilecentre are taking ages to deliver....

Take a look at this DVD Changer.

What do you reckon? I can’t figure out where I’m gonna source the power from. It states an input of 12v DC – which is generic but it leaves me asking, is there a power outlet in the boot?

Any advice would be welcome

On another note – check out this install, I was positively drooling!!!

Did consider that - but if I was to hook it up directly to the battery what way could I prevent power being drawn after ignition is turned off? Ideally need one of those valet outlets that cut power after ignition is switched off similar to my Golf GTI..

Cheers.

i assumed all these things are like amps. They require a remote signal from the headunit in order to turn on. Then when the signals lost (you turn car off) it switched off.

Raja, if you get a player with an auto remote like Afif says then straight to your batt. Mine is double sided taped to my batt cover. When its connected to your AV channel, the sound will be in mono.

But you get used to it.

Wired mine into the power connector of the TV module...

If you have got to take the connector apart on the TV module for the AV install just hard wire the DVD player in then.

BTW you can buy those AV connectors for about £10 from ebay.de

heres a pic of what I mean....

Also at this stage you will be able to run the remote eye lead through wireing hole. Then just partially remove the back seats to mount the eye under the headrests.....

Many, many, many, THANKS guys!!! You are all totally right, it comes with a remote and also you patch the thing to an ACC fuse too, so it only comes alive with ignition on! Great pics Doc, h4pry! Cheers for the heads up Afif. As soon as I get this thing installed, I'll post some pics. I got the unit really cheap and suprisingly it looks like a quality item regardless of badge-name! I'm gonna start looking at headrest monitors too as it has an inbuilt AV master with 3 preouts!!! Excellent stuff, so I can AV out to the centre OEM SatNav screen and two further monitors. The headrest monitors I've look at so far have some kind of weird "DIN" female connector. Anyone want to shed some light on which monitors will fit the OEM front seat M3 headrest?

Thanks for the all advice so far - you guys are a great help :)
