As title says this week I was pulled twice. Both occasions was about my german style number plates.
I cant complain I knew it was wrong the police were only doing thier jobs. Anyway good news I was let off with a warning on bith occasions. I dont want to risk being pulled a third time cos I may not be so lucky.
Any way I really like the german style number plates so I was thinking about getting some without the D and having GB but still in german lettering. Is this still illegal and not worth the risk.
Thanks
Ben

Just buy a pair of legal number plates at least for now.

hmmm, with the trouble that peeps were having inc my self with the treat that the plate would get taken off you what would happen in the instance if u got a normal standard plate but was styled in a way that was non-legal after the 3 strikes what would the coppers do? they treat the private plate owners that the plate will be taken off them but when its a normal issue plate what would they do then?? anyone know???

they still give you a Q plate mate, the DVLA owns the plate regardless of it being a "normal" plate or a private plate, you only ever own the right to display the registration mark on your vehicle. They will still remove the mark from circulation and slap a Q on your car which will loose you thousands in resale value!!

ah, i didnt know that, i thought Q plates have gone now and cant be issued anymore??
Reserved for this sort of use they can still give them out.

and once a Q is issued it cant be gotten rid of. Q plates were reserved for registering cars thats age couldnt not be determined like kit cars or repaired right offs or imports with no history and apparently now adays for punishment too!! :D
I know its not as good but have you thought of getting german number plate surrounds with normal plates?
