The Alpina has performed well since I bought her last August but I have never proven how strong she performs.
An original BMW E36 325 would have produced 192BHP
When supplied with the Alpina B2.5 pack - which gave uprated cams and ECU - the engine should have produced 216BHP
Today mine produced
223.5BHP
Just waiting on corner weights to get power/tonne calcs

Pffft all that power and an old fart behind the wheel, what a waste...
:D Nice result though, be interesting to see if any more can be encouraged out of it. The Alpina tuning is generally top notch, bit of fiddling may just nick a few more ponies though if you're lucky.

Exhaust and intake would be the best starting point - but I am not too worried at the moment - when I have a slow day I might chase some down.
Alternatively I could get an M3 engine installed - price??

Probably cheaper to move the Alpy on and buy an M3, you get all the uprated running gear then too. ;) We'd do it, work out a nice hourly rate for you, can speak to Andy and work something out if you're properly looking at numbers, would be a cracking little project to get into.
As for fiddling with NA engines, exhaust and intake are always what needs looking at first, maximise the breathing and you maximise your possibilities. After that it's mostly about compromise. Larger cams, crank, flywheel, cylinder mapping etc, the wallet is your limit, there's definitely a point of diminishing return for an amateur trackday project though as some of the pro-race boys spend some insane amount of wonga for a couple of horses..
