Can anyone tell me (out of experience) which is the best coilover suspension set up for an E46 M3 that gives the softest ride (eibach / KW / Bilstein / H&R)and also going back to a previous thread about the exhaust, which is the best for power gains as i have sold my Gruupe M and i am thinking about keeping the car so might need a replacement ASAP. The car is re-mapped and i still have my Carbonio induction system. Not worried about noise so going back to Gruppe m is not an issue if this the best. Thanks guys

Im sure nick posted in another topic about coilovers

Eibach pro's i think are the best for the money however i think they dont have camber adjustment(dont quote me on that)

Tein- are expensive but very fancy

I think he recommended pss9's as the best all rounders

*Warning* all above is from memory just trying to help, but let someone with more knowledge recommend you the best ones *Warning*

I'm sure thats right as well,Eibachs are the cheaper option,Bilsteins are the most expensive, but each one serves a purpose. It depends what you are looking for,if you want to track it go Bilsteins /Tein if its for posing ride height (as if ;) ) then Eibachs will be fine

To be honest mate its more for ride height and defo on the comfort side, as the car still has the powerflex bushes and thicker anti-roll bars which all add the hard ride so although the car has the eibach lower springs and std dampers i want to if poss soften the ride a little

Then I would go with the Eibachs tbh,I've got them on mine they are easy to adjust and the ride is not uncomfortable and teeth rattling.

I've heard that KW3s are way better riding than eibach springs and actually defy the laws of physics. I have AC shnitzer set up which is way better and more comfy than standard. I intend to swap the springs for eibachs though. I bought all the gear from robin20mrv who in the end settled for KW3s and said they were by far the best of anything he had tried. Apparently smoothed out all the orad vibrations and mnor bumps yet didn't roll on corners. If I had the cash or indeed was keeping the car I'd buy those.

Try to take a drive in M3's with different coilover setups, for me if you want a good ride go PSS9's, if you want handling and adjustment try KWV3's.

The Intrax, Motons , Ohlins are the best but you pay the cost, also they are full coilovers which are only advised if you have a welded in rollcage or the mounts welded for stiffness/strenth.

Gruppe M is daft loud and it sounds very raspy, I had one on 2 months ago and took it off after 2 weeks and put my SS Race back on.

The best exhaust for power gains is subjective.

To get BHP power gains you really need racing cats but if your only using the car on the road i would recommned a remap for improved power delivery lower down , which can feel like there is more power !

I would say Pss9's or KW Variant 3's these would what i'd go for...

Compliment the performance handleing with some Anti Roll Bars.

Eibach's are make by KW just so you are aware.

ARBs don't always compliment handling tho, so you get a double spank. :p

As to the OT... The feel of coilovers is subjective. For what you want, I'd go Eibachs personally.

Ok, our banana has pss9's on it, our old CSL had Teins on it, my best mates E36 M3 has eibachs on it & my 540i has KW's so i can defo give you a cood comparison, BUT....its only what i personally think of them & what i prefer. At the end of the day they all serve the same purpose but with a few slight differences.

KW's 1st, personally i love the ride on the road & even though mine are set quite high their not at all bone shakers. However, the bump/rebound adjustment on the rears requires removal of the shocks so their by far easy to set up. Their also very good on the track & ride height adjustment is a doddle although there is a point where too much adjustment is a bad thing & this is where the KW's are as everything is individually adjustable by huge amounts.

Teins, personally i didnt like the way they felt on the CSL. way too hard even at the softest setting & at high speed the skipping was starting to get scary.

Eibachs, faultelss on the road with a surprisingly nice ride. very little adjustment as far as bump & rebound go but to be honest even if they had adjustment i wouldnt change it for road use. I have done a few track laps on them & that'll do me i think, i'll stick to roads in that car.

Bilstein PSS9, only slightly more expensive than the rest & worth alot more. best in terms of ride, very easy to adjust bump & rebound without even jacking the car up. Ride height adjustment on the rears can be a bit of a pain but as its not something your gonna do daily not too much to worry about.

As for prices, the Bilsteins are £1380, Tein euro's are £1140 or the Tein super streets are £776, KW V2's are £886.35 & KW V3's 1105.80.
If your wondering where the Eibach prices are they dont sell a coilover kit for the E46 M3 yet as AC Schnitzer are still holding the sales rights :)
