as you may know, 2 or 3 times a year performance BMW magazine hold a competition for all the fastest BMW s in the UK at bruntingthorpe track.

CA cars are usually in the top 3, and if i remember right ( and i stand to be corrected) our supercharged M3 cars won the last two outright in all events ( 0-60 , 0- 100, 1/4 mile etc). I will look it all up later.

This event was last thursday and was hampered by severe rain, so the below figures reflect this, please bear this in mind in the interest of fairness to all competitors, as traction was obviously a major issue.

The ONLY two cars to get to get a dry run were Nigel French's E30 M3 and Pier's Ross E36 M3; all other runs were in the complete soaking wet.

With the above factors in mind, we are very happy with our two cars' outcomes, particularly our very own steve morgan's CA tuned E36 M3, especially considering some of the other cars were semi or fully track prepared cars, some running wet tyres, whereas Steve's E36 M3 and Erics CA supercharged E46 M3 were road cars on dry weather track tyres. Interesting to note Steve's E36 M3 got a faster 0-60 and almost identical 1/4 mile to the Thorney motorsport's track prepped CSL, althouth the CSL got a very good 0- 100 mph too. Unfortunately Eric only managed to get a 0- 60 mph time down in the s/charged E46M3, as the rain was just too severe thereafter.

Again ...remember these runs were in the soaking wet rain !

Giv will be along soon to comment and post up images.

nice. quick question to put this in perspective though, what would a completely standard E46 M3 get on the 1/4 mile (on average) in the dry do you think?

Louise from PBMW called me to ask me to bring along my E92 M3 to this event. If only I had my car, I would be a good contender for the over 1650kg and most wheelspins accolade ...... :D

Roy - my car is in with Nigel at the moment. It is always good to see their cars performing well.

Will you be at Brands in Dec?

although possible, it takes quite a lot and a very good original to get a consistent 13 sec 1/4 on a standard m3.

ken, i am probably being dense but who i sNigel ? if you mean Bex.M Works then you are in good hands there :)

You are forgiven :D

Top notch service from them - with their garage becoming the Alpinas second home - actually make that first home considering the amount of time it has been there in the last 3 months!

13 secs is not very do-able in a standard M3. what is the reg of that M3 in the video? is it the one from north London?

I timed a few runs the other day (1st attempt in the M) and got a best 1/4 of 14.074 @ 101.28 mph with a 0-60 of 5.502 secs. I did another run with a 0-60 of 5.122 secs but had to stop at 90 because a trespasser drove the other way on my "track" :D I think that run would`ve been a 13-13.5 sec 1/4(It was 0.9 secs quicker over 0-90 mph). So I guess with enough practice and under perfect condition 13 secs would be acheivable but not very easy.

One of Roy`s s/c M3`s won the santa pod 6cyl class recently @ 13.1 secs, so that shows how difficult traction can be.

Roy, did any of the CA cars have Racelogic software installed or would it have not made a significant difference in the rain?

I don't think the CA cars had Racelogic at the event, because Racelogic has a "WET" mode and slip modes which lets it take off hard in the rain or extremely well, as Roy said however his cars were on dry track tyres !

Tyres are the most important factor i would think :)

just verified that it is my mates M3 in the vid and his brothers mates civic. that M3 has just a panel filter and remap. according to tuners the chip gave between 25-30bhp to the car.

totally far-fetched, more like 5-10

Hi Raj :D
none of the cars had Racelogic btw

bananna is having some work done on it ;) :)

there are sooo many variables with acheiving good straight line times, not least of which is the driver himself.

I didnt map it, thats what the company said. Their are alot of companies out there that believe they can achieve between 20 and 30bhp on e46 M3's. How true this is I do not know.
