Just watched the new Die hard 4.0 ...

Something that slightly scared me was during the film, they needed a car, Bruce willis smashed the rear window of an E60 5er,
the co-actor hit the front with a garbage can to set off the airbags, then pressed the "BMW Customer assist" button, told the person who answered it the car owners name and got them to start the engine!!!!

Can this be really done?! and if so, there must be some sort of security stuff behind it?

Oh shit - are BMWs really that easy to steal?????

Okay, its a film ;) , you need one of these
http://www.edmunds.com/media/reviews/top10/most.fabulous.key.fobs/bmw.500.jpg

The cars do need to receive a code from the correct key to start, some numpty at customer services cannot remote start your BMW!!

And no, you can't retrofit an E36 with this :p .

The people in the film were actors. The Bmw assist woman was really called Brenda and she was sitting in an extras caravan nearby on the film set talking to Mr Willis.

Oh, and just incase you think the bit where Willis drives his truck into the harrier jet exploding it and sending it onto the tarmac below is true, then it really is. The army are well pissed at him as that plane cost 40 million dollars. Luckily, Willis has agreed to pay £35 a week out of his wages in costs.

thats the 7er key , and all BMW models don't need a key because of start button, you just slot it in. And if you have keyless entry then all you have to do it keep it in your pocket (I'm sure you knew that :) ). But you can pull out a small key from there to open the door

No I like my chains because the car always pulls up straight without even using the steering wheel, although using the crane is even easier :D :D

Sometimes you have to wonder how cars end up where they do.Today I had to crane a car that spun off the road and ended up "parked" right in between 2 tree's.As for the funniest thing we picked up was a brand new Alfa in the river, but we couldn't get it with the crane or the winch so we had to get our rowing boat which doesn't have any oars.We had to use shovels to row the boat out to the car.I have got it on video somewhere, when we got back and loaded the car the local residents had been taking bets on which one of us would end up in the water :D .Sadly the job has a serious side as well and picking up fatals is never a nice experience :(
