Question for Andy / Beemerboy888. Phone is downstairs so I'm posting here :p

What components did you use in Steve's car? I know they were JL Audio something, what series and most importantly, what size?

Also, with regard to the headunit, if I kept my standard headunit, would I need the soundprocessor you installed in Steve's car? If I went for aftermarket, would I still need it or would the it be good enough to not warrant it?

Also, can I get your (or anyone else's) opinion on these?

That Lilliput is very interesting, best price I've come across

Fas, maybe it's time to bypass your stock HK. A processor is required on factory HK-linked to-aftermarket amps/speakers systems. But given the cost of the processor, you might as well go for an aftermarket head unit. You already have the subs set up, if you hook up reasonable front components to a powered head unit with say 50W RMS channel outputs, you'll have much cleaner sound. You can also run the subs off a proper subwoofer RCA output on the headunit which I'm sure will sound better than the high level link you have presently (or are you running line converters already?)

I know zilch about ICE just 2 weeks ago, but I'm educating myself [read

Wot up Fas. We went for the JL Audio vr650csi component speakers, nice beefy speaker and fits snug as a replacement for the front speakers. Before we knew if these would fit or not, I think Andy also suggested another component speaker, but you'll have to check with him to see what that was.

I might hook up with Andy next weekend to tweak a few things, if you're free you're more than welcome to have a look/listen to the speakers [ok

thanks for the info so far guys.

HK is definitely going, just need to get the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together ;)

components, headrest screens and head unit. Not sure what head-unit to get though, ideall want a flip out screen, but not sure I can justify the cost at this moment. May just get a reasonable price head-unit now and upgrade later. Once the pieces are in place, then I'm gonna go BLING. lights, motorized amp racks, alcantara, serious show car ;)

Another question

Will I need another amp to run components? Or will an aftermarket headunit be enough to push them?

i had my components hooked up to my sony headunit for a while and the difference compared to amping them was night and day.

if you wanna run the comps off the aftermarket headunit for the moment you can, this is so that when you get an amp to them you will appreciate them more.
