Given the same make and output, would the size of the subs affect the way the way the bass is pumped out. I like my bass soft and low, should I opt for any particular size?

12" will fill the boot space better.

From my experience the bigger you go the lower/softer it gets, but you have to play that off against response aswell. Smaller subs always sound a little tighter and can work with faster bass pickups. Andy/Flex are the experts though, they can probably explain it better. If you do decide to go for a 12, lemme know bro cos I've got one sitting in my spare room that probably isn't gonna fit in the new car. ;)

Which one do you have?

Er lol now you're asking... :D I think it's one of these (http://www.carsound.com/reviews/subs/rf_punch_he.html) in an XL series box. It's definitely more Evanescence than Eric Clapton.. ;)

i'd go for 12's dude, had 12s in one of my old cars, and was nice b-line. Same setup (Infinity Kappa range) tested the 10 and 12.. same cd etc, 12's sound so much better.

Whoa, Rockford Fosgate.....power ;) They are a bit too strong for my application as I don't have mega front components to match.

Well, neither did I in the last one lol.. I kinda threw it in and just made do until I had a chance to set up properly but it sounded deep even with the rest of the audio as standard non-HK stuff. Now that I have got the chance to sort out some proper ICE I'm not gonna squeeze that into the vert boot, so looks like a re-think is in order. No worries if it's no good for ya m8, but do holler if you change your mind and want to have a peek at it. :)

Nick, deffo go with a 12 mate. It will sound nice and if it is in the right enclosure it will be tight as well as low. I currently a Rockford P3 sub I am getting rid of as I have a Celestion AD12 going in to my ride. Rockford's will sound good for all round sound.

OK 12" it is ;) ......or they are :D :D

That brings me to my next question, with twin 12" subs at RMS 200W each driven by separate amps of 200W each, what kind of output am I lookin at for front components so that the bass wouldn't drown the clarity of the acoustic?

I want the front componenets to fit inside the door car, 5" will fit right in but I'm toying with 6" or even 6.5". Anyone of you had any experience if these specific sizes will fit behind the door card? Speaker depth is another concern I'm currently exploring. Looking at the Infinity Kappa range with 75W.

Have you ever noticed that the people who go to the extreme of customizing their $100,000 cars with the biggest and most blinged out wheels, custom alligator skin interiors, and even steering wheels encrusted with diamonds always seem to have the same 12” woofers as the 16 year-old kid down the street?

[crackmeup.

That thing weighs in at 145 kg

I've got one of those sat around doing nothing too. Well actually I've got 2 but I don't think one of them is any good. The other one is almost brand new. I've got the Rockford ported twin box too, but (2 x subs) + twin box + amps + push chair and nappy bag = roof rack or trailor or divorce. :( :( :(
