My top mounts have gone, despite only lasting 5 months since i changed them (and suspension). I even used the E46 M3 Cab ones as i was told they are stronger.

Teddy, do you stock any really heavy duty ones or know where i could get some. The name ground control rings a bell.

Cheers

you may be better off importing from the US. I know Rennsport do them. www.rennsport.com if nothing else, drop them an e-mail for some advice

Well, id love to say ive been driving sideways all the time and driving at brake neck speeds down country lanes...

...unfortunately my life isn't that exciting!

Just been driving to work every day, to gf's and occasionally showing the nova bregade who's boss. Roads down here are sh!t but even so, i dont know how ive managed it to be honest.

ZM3 plates, hmmm forgot about those. Anyone got a part number? Might be worth a shot.

Cheers guys

Scratch that, found part no.

Although, apparently Z3 uses E30 rear end. So not sure if it would fit my E36?

I think im going to have to ask the $tealer.

hmm I don't stock them but can ask around for you, if BMW items aren't up to scratch then you might be better of getting aftermarket ones. Has it got something to do with your tracking maybe? or Suspension?

Cheers Teddy,

Ive bought some more E46 M3 Cab ones, ill give them another go as they're pretty cheap and easy to get hold of.

I had full laser alignment (£150 worth) done only about 3 months ago. Suspension is only 5 months old as well. Loads of people have the Eibach/Bilstein setup im running and haven't had any probs at all.

Ill put it down to bad luck this time and give the M3 mounts another go. If not ill have to reconsider so more heavy duty items.

Cheers for input guys. :)

Update:

Been a bit of a dickhead. I wasnt sure if it was top mounts or not. Someone from BMWCar forum mentioned Trailing arm bushes. However, before ripping boot to pieces to check i took it round my mechanic for him to give it a listen.

He said that its "Definitely the top mounts". Good enough for me i thought, after all HE'S the mechanic. So off i go to get some more M3 top mounts.

Ripped boot to pieces about half an hour ago. Guess what, Top mounts look fine, hardly any movement in them, no cracks or tears and no dampers poking through to the boot.

Which just goes to show, dont assume a mechanic (even if he's a mate of family) knows anything! Didn't think i could have destroyed them after 5 months!

I wouldn't have minded if he'd said he wasn't sure, but he said it was definitely top mounts. So anyway, i havent a clue how to check for trailing arm bushes so im just going to give it to stealer to sort out...ive had enough.
