What kinda work would be involved in getting this working?

Ive only seen these for sale on ebay before - never 1 working.

Simple or just as complex and expensive as the retro tv./sat nav BMW units?

Cheers

If you need to install the Nav brain, which will be in the boot below the CD changer, then you need to route the wires from front to back. You can get a Mk2 or Mk3 on ebay for £150.

Tin and h4pry will be the best people to direct you. It's not difficult but does involve quite a bit of wiring work.

See here (http://sankeys.demon.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=1040)

hmm..interesting.. 1st time i've seen one of them.. any closer pics?

yep wiring will need to be fed thru the car to the boot, to house the gps unit, the you have the gps ariel to mount, then speaker inputs for voice directions to be fed into your current radio etc.. quite a few things to worry about.. might aswell go for the widescreen version if you going thru the hassles..

Those sat nav head units are crap to be honest mate. I did the whole retrofit thing last summer (widescreen)and it took me a long time to get everything together.

Almost one year on and the oem system now seems really outdated especially with the new i-drive system in the newer cars and there is soooo much more cool aftermarket stuff out there.
