I had my car serviced today and i was looking forward to getting a fee courtesy car to drive around in . So i was waiting in the car park for them to pull up in a x5, 335d, or m3 vert OK may be the last one was to optimistic. So the lady pulls up in a e90 320d

SYE, you should have 'really' driven it. The e90 chassis is stunning, even the derv lump, for a 2ltr is a cracking piece of engineering. I think you are being a bit hard on the car.

my be your right mystic but like i said i had high expectations and it was probably the most bottom of the range 3er i could have got. i handed in a 300d with leather ok an older model but i felt i had been down graded and sitting in side it reminded me of being in a mondeo. i now know why Mr clarkson feels this way.
i could bet most of this model are sold to leased/contract hire companies

you can't say its not BMW cashing in on this market,
yes your right it is a good little drive and if it had the choice of a company specked mondeo or this 320d i would go for the bm myself i would be a happy rep but a disappointed BMW driver

Mate, try handing in an M3 for a £700 insp1 and they give you a fully sign written 116i, then you know how well you are being treated. I would have bitten their hand off for a 320d :p .

Sye your lucky, when mine went in they gave me an E90 320i, Try going from 500 Nm to 250. The poor thing must`ve been ready for a nervous break down by the time it went back. :D

fair point's the cherry on the top was that my (Audi driving) little brother was renting a car for the weekend and I'm pulling in to my drive way in this 320d and he turns up in a 335d gutted. its costing him £200 for 48 hours plus the £120 in diesel his going to do

Nick, how did you let the get away with that amount of fuel in the tank?

The small print when ordering a new BMW states that the extra £120 is for first time registration, and a full tank of fuel! I remember when I picked mine up, it was empty, I pointed that statement out to them and we promptly went across the road and filled it up to the brim!

I didn't care about the perks, time was sacred. The car wasn't even valeted. All I wanted to do that day was to drive the car away onto the ramp that I had arranged well in advanced to be left free. Lowering springs and wheels are waiting. The dealer asked me to come back later in the afternoon for it ...... lol ...... just give me the god damn keys! If I had to, i'll tick the pre-delivery check list for them to save some time ;)

Sigh, you got the modding bug real bad, dude. Maybe some chlordiazepoxide to help with the shakes?;)

Seriously, nick, you shoulda gotten a full tank of diesel with the car... Them stealers shouldn't be allowed to get away with anything.

I got 1/2 a tank with mine.

Here`s a pic of the loaner I had, only thing good about it was the colour. Which the dealer seemed to think was its worst point.

Have to agree on the consumption Robin, I did about 1300 miles in 2 days 900 ish motorway and it averaged 29 mpg
It did sound like a touring car at nearlt 7K revs `tho. :D
