Hi there i brought a 330ci clubsport the weekend so thought i would join this forum, seems to be the best one around :)

Loving the 330 although i am having to change my driving style because i am used to turbo'ed cars, really need to rev the 330's, much better to drive than my s4, although my s4 was faster it all felt a little numb with near no feedback.

Anyway, my clubsport wheels are corroded around the outer lip so i need options, do i refurb the clubsport wheels or get a new set of wheels?

I want to keep the same size tyres if possible, seen some velocity csl reps which look very nice and also like the bbs CH's but only do them in 18x8.5 will a 225/40/18 tyre still be ok on this size wheel or will it be to streched?

Thanks

You can use your 225/40 tyres on an 8.5J rim but asthetically it's not ideal (like you said, they will look stretched). Certain heavy shouldered tyres like the Yokohama AVS are better at mantaining a fuller side wall profile.

The OEM Clubsport Type 71 rims are very soft and prone to corrosion. It's a 2 piece rim so repair will cost more, and you have to make sure the componenets of the rims are put back together properly. Also, it is likely to happen again.

I would use them until the tyres are due to be changed and then change the rims and tyres for better one all at once.

Hi Gilly - nice to see you here as well.

My Clubsport has MV alloys on it and as 'ordinary' as they are in terms of bmw's I really like them and after reading about the number who have had issues with corrosion on the clubsport wheels, I am pleased.

I can imagine CSL rep's would look nice (IMHO).

Thanks, would i be able to fit 235/40/18 on front with 255/35/18 rear withought any problems?

Also what is the correct offset because the bbs CH are +35 and the velocity csl reps are +40?

Tempted by the velocity csl reps but i got to import from the states, but then the CH's looked very nice on peppernicks clubsport.

Welcome aboard, good to see another clubsport joined up - what colour, spec & pics most important :D
All std clubsport rims are faulty as the polished lip is soft & corroads very easily from new. BMW replaced a lot under warranty but even the replacements were naff !
You could get a good refurb done @ approx £70 ea from Lepsons etc
You could buy good reps or you could buy good new of your own theme - lots of choice, depends on how you want to mod the car & budget ?
A good idea is to get someone to photoshop your chosed wheels onto your car & see how it looks ?
Personally I went for ACS T3r's as they looked similar to the originals but they cost £ unless you can find some good second hand ones, last genuine set I saw went for £550 + tyres

Firstly, welcome aboard.

As for the rim Q... well, I was running exactly the same setup you are talking about 8.5Jx18 BBS CHs with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres (225f/255r). The goodyears don't look to bad at all and the offset is fine. I had them on my 328 coupe and then my current 330d (until I replaced them with BBS RCs). They will look spot on..

A couple of pics to give you an idea.

I will get some pics up the weekend as long as u dont mock my crappy clubsport rims ;)

Raj, with the 225s fitted did you loose the curb protection on the eagle f1's and did where they streched much?

Thanks
