My driver offside Teins suddenly rattled a few days ago and found out that the dampers are damaged in some ways. Never had any issues before and thought they could stand some punishment.
Spoke to Roy and guess what? Teins - the bloody dicks would not even send a replacement out. They insist that I send them back the faulty one and they would repair it and send it back? Are they off their bloody Japanese heads!!!! (no punt intended) So what am I going to use in the meantime? walking sticks?
Man! - Sorry about all this and really pisses me off and just ranting here. If they do not sort this out; the number of members who buys Teins might as well not buy them in the future looking at their customer service policy!
Its the same with Eibach, you would have to send it back and they would check it and then replace or repair.

sounds like a bog standard policy. i guess a lot of people 'try it on' hence I think you got a fair reply, not surprising

Sorry to hear of your troubles; take comfort you have had them installed correctly and they've served you well so far! I've passed my car back to the mechanic who fitted them following an aligment which showed caster out at:
5'17 and 5'40
can you (or Nick) please confirm what your caster was? Tein say it is going to be out due to their manufacture process... is this right?
Caster is non-adjustable btw... I just want to make sure my car is setup correctly...
Roy - if you're reading, gonna take you up on your offer of check over mate - almost go the car back - the guys scuffed my front and rear bumper and is now repairing them *rolls eyes*
Good luck with the strut J!

Thanks Raj for the support.
What I was ranting and raving about is that I did not even buy it directly from Tein. If I did, then they would think that I might be pulling a fast one, but they told Roy (the sole distributor who sold upteenth sets for Teins) that they are not willing to send a spare or even send a replacement. Is tha service??? With Eibachs or Bilsteins; they would send a replacement out to the sole distributor who would then send it to the customer. Thats why Roy was pissed off as well!
but they told Roy (the sole distributor who sold upteenth sets for Teins)
Roy is not the sole distributor for TEIN in the UK.
Ontop of that as has been said before, the process is the process, its the risk you take with coilovers

I can't remember the exact caster readings off the top of my head but they were as the the factory instructions. However, my front camber was -2.5 degrees.
Jerome, TEIN has their own distributor in the UK www.tein.co.uk Try contacting them. A lot of 'high performance' aftermarket parts when a fault is claimed are dealt with similarly, some does not even offer a warranty (like AP Racing). They will want to inspect the faulty item first before sending out a replacement one, and repair it if possible.
Did you space your front wheels out? as the TEIN are very chunky and the inner lip of the 8.5J front rim tend to rub on the shock spring and body, putting excessive strain on the structure.

castor angles should remain unaffected by new coilovers.
raj let me know if you want us to look over the chassis fittings and setting, no problem.

Sorry guys in my anger I may not have explained the situation properly...
I offered to pay for a new suspension leg outright so I can have it fitted to the car and stay mobile while Tein inspect the damaged leg and decide if a waranty claim is applicable, and refund me later if applicable, yet they would not do this !
I know for a fact Eibach, KW and Bilstein would offer this service.
To say "that is the risk you take with coilovers" is innacurate at the least, they are a road certified, warranted product like any other.
So in short I am expected to reman without my car for 2- 3 weeks because the UK importer cannot be bothered to keep spares in stock or offer a temporary replacement AT MY OWN COST...THAT is my reason for dissatisfaction here.
See my point now ? :D

Good news finally. Nice - thanks for the advice, and the great help from Roy; got my Tein finally replaced at the Tein had office in Milton Keynes:) :)
1. First they replaced the shock shaft, replaced the fluid, gas it up and then checked the compression and rebound. Even check the viscosity of the fluid. Took out the car still the same.
2. Second they replaced the linear/digressive pistons and then took out the car, and still the same.
3. Third they replaced the shims and body cap. Took out the car and still the same.
4. Finally had to replace the whole damper and problem resolved!
I learnt a lot about Coilovers in that short session (about 4.5 hours); and they even offered to send the Top Mounts and link rod to me when I call them after that to say there is still a little noise (rather have a clean slate).
Whew! What a day..knackered....
