mods for my 98 540i

i have just joined the forum,thanks to pbmw.
the 540 is my first bmw,so what i would like to know is where to start on mods and some rough prices.
i don't want to change the exterior appearance (wolf in sheeps clothing) but want the fuel efficiency and performance increased, if you can obtain both at the same time.
i have had to change the cats(one knackered the other cheap aftermarket one0,to rossi sportcats by longlife(cardiff).
this is the only mod that has been carried out although i have ordered a brembo front disc kit as the originals need replacing.

Hya mate & welcome to the forum, excellent choice of car too! :)

Mods wise it depends on your budget really, a good starting point would be intake (britalman one is awesome), then a new higher flowing back box as the oem one is very restrictive, then a remap to bring it all together.
You will feel the difference in the way the car delivers power and it'll also rev alot happier :)

Or if you want the ultimate sleeper go for a supercharger & play with Ferrari's :D although you will need to uprate the brakes and suspension somewhat but damn its worth it!
