Teddy
Just a quick enquiry what I need to do if my angel eyes have broken. Just noticed today that they are not working. None of them light up at all - I've had a quick look at the fuses and the connectors and they seem fine, will have to wait 'til the end of the week and I'll get Dad to test input and output from the inverters with a multi-meter to see if it's them.
What would I need to do, post faulty bits back to you, only think I've had them in a coupleof months. Am hoping it's the inverters as they are easier to remove 'cos rings are fixed into lights with blobs of silicone. To me it doesn't sound like them though 'cos wouldn't expect all of them to fail at once?
yea but chances of both inverters going at the same time is very odd. Id have put it down to a sidelight fuse but youve already checked that [hmm. Are the sidelights in the engine bay on?

Dunno, have got to put the bulbs back in, I've mounted it all back in headlight, will try putting the headlight back in the wires tomorrow. Originally thought (hoped) it was the sidelight fuse but the sidelights share I fuse and then also have a seperate on each, have changed all 3 and still don't work.
Thought it mightbe todays rain but have driven through far worse and been fine, plus I think they're mounted in dry location (they weren't wet anyway).

unless you are the unluckiest man alive in the universe, it's highly unlikely that all 4 rings gone bad at the same time. when you tap into the sidelight power source, try removing the t-tap connection and tap into a different part of the wire as you may have lost connection due to some movements (happened to me once). in any case, Teddy will back u up so so worries there. my guess will be fuse and relays

it's more likely to be the inverters have a test and let me know how you get on. I'll have spare inverters available shortly. It's covered by the warranty don't worry. Where did you mount the inverters?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't have any instructions with my set but I managed to tuck everything inside the headlight - hence why I can't see it being the rain that caused the problem.
I'm gonna try putting the original bulbs back in the holders to see if they'll light up, in which case I'll then know theres a problem between the connector and the rings somewhere or if it doesn't light up it should be a problem the car end.
We should be able to open up the connector blocks and get multimeter readings off them OK (guessing should be aropund 12 volts) and then guess we can unplug the two plugs from the end of the inverter and test the two pins in each to see if there is an output to each ring. Any idea what we should expect to see from here?

Just a another quick look, put one of the original bulbs back in and didn't light up so suspect it might be car end. I've changed the fuses and still didn't light up, I know the switch is working cos when I turn it to sidelights the dash lights up, anyone with any electrical knowledge know if there might be a relay as well for an e36?

sorry teddy think we crossed there, any idea what output you should see from each set of two pins on the end of the inverters?

Just got Dad to check out light electrics with the multimeter and it does actually look like both inverters have failed.
Checked output to the wires and is still there at just under 12V (the reason the bulb didn't work before was because it had been rattling round in my boot and wire had broken).
Then tried out the two sockets on the end of the inverters and neither of the 4 pins (2 x 2) had any output at all. So figure both inverters have failed at the same time, this sounds really odd, can't figure out how as they were both protected inside headlight.
Could you send out two new inverters when they come in, if you like I can send the old ones back to you.
Thanks

no problem mate e-mail me your address and I'll get the replacement units sent out as soon as they come in. Please send the faulty ones back to me for inspection.

No problems Teddy, I've already pm'd you my address.
Will send old ones straight back when new ones fitted. Would be interestng to know what went wrong with them, as I said only thing I could figure was that they went when I was driving in the rain but they were fitted inside headlight so can't see how it was that.
Do you have any idea what output should read from pins on end of inverter out of interest?

Yep, been an unlucky couple of weeks. Some toe rag decided to pinch my m3 mirrors and rear badge. So I put on the spare set of genuine m3 mirrors I bought on ebay a while ago as they were my colour only to discover that the are LHD types and didn't mention this when I bought them.

it's the new inverter it works for original ccfl and second gen. Thought you only needed 1?
