View Full Version : What to do about my wheels?

Not that long ago i put replica m3 wheels on my car (as per signature pic).
My problem is one of the wheels is slightly out of shape and as a result the tyre keeps going down due to it seemingly not sealing against the rim properly (there is no puncture). This is really getting on my nerves as you can imagine most of the time it isnt to bad as i check my tyre pressures regularly but in the last week it has gone down twice
Now i either need to get this one fixed - Somewhere between £50 - £100
or
Do i put off getting my new alpine head unit that i was gonna get for xmas (as my headunit is being a pain and cutting out, i need to remove it and plug it back in for it to reset)
and put the money i was getting for that towards a set of 18" 's (Replica MV2's (from Rochford tyres)= £570 Delivered,
Replica ACS 3 RACING (from BMautosport) = £650 + delivery charge)
Havent really budgeted for this so budget for alloys would be about £650 max which doesnt leave much. Just seems a bit of a false economy paying possibly upto £100 to get a wheel fixed that i know i want to change.
Opinions greatfully received!

buy a set of rims (ben's could be a good choice) and sell your current ones "as seen"
Buy ac schnitzers ones they look the dogs on a e36

AC type III's or CSL's looks sick on with e36 coupes
Dude, I think I have this problem as well, with two alloys.
I recently used an independant garage at home in Chichester, and they used a material called "Bead Sealer," made by "Tech." They use it inside the tyre and it hardens and turns to rubber.
These guys seem to think that this stuff really works as one tyre has been fine since. But the other tyre has gone down again. He really thinks it could be a puncture this time. But because I am back in Cardiff I can't get to the same garage again so I'll have to buy the stuff myself and get the tyre repaired elsewhere in Cardiff.

I'd go for a set of M3 Evo Cab Polished 17" with wider rears.
I'd leave the MV2s alone, don't think crossing the generations of cars and wheels really works.

I would steer clear of MV2s on the E36, doesn't work at all imo. I think you should probably go for the replica ACs, look pretty good on the E36 (as said).

What does everyone think of the replicas from BMautosport?
here (http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/detail.php?siteid=677)
Do they look like decent replicas?

After alot of careful thought i've decided to get the alloy wheel fixed for the time being.
Reasons for this is
a)having never driven a rear wheel drive car in the ice im thinking it might be a good idea in case i clip any kerbs during ice etc, if i do it to these wheels i wont be too bothered but if i do it to a new set im gonna be P****D.
b)Funds - i aint got them at the minute!
c)can't decide on alloys, the pic of the e36 vert with m6 wheels is now doing the rounds and looks awesome, been talking to Juber about them for the last couple of days and i could pick a set of these up for a good price
I think this is the most sensible idea?

I think it is a good idea, but if youre going to be buying 4 tyres, then get the alloys insted. It works out cheeper (evan though youl get budget tyres).
Scholsy - as mentioned, M6 alloys in 19" or those AC Schnitzer reps will look sweet on your car! :)

That was partly where they were going to be coming from, but the ice/snow issue worried me abit so think it will be a march job before i get new ones!
